DOCK CONSTRUCTION

Stationary Docks are supported by wood pilings which are pressure treated to 2.5% CCA for saltwater submersion. The pilings may be bolted outside the 2" x 8" dock frame and used to "bumper" the boat, or bolted inside the frame underneath the decking.

ELEVATION

Standard dock elevation is level with the seawall/shoreline, or you can specify one step above or below (9") prior to construction. You may choose to design your dock with a lower landing accessed with a single box step to make loading and boarding easier. Most lower landings are piling supported, but a narrow landing up to 2.5' wide can be cantilevered off the existing pilings.

FASTENERS

Galvanized nails are standard. We recommend stainless nails to attach decking, rails and benches. Screws are available upon request.

DECKING

We suggest Tropical UltraWood as the best choice for wood decking. It is a superior grade pressure treated Southern Pine board which has been injected with a water repellant sealer under high pressure and reduces water absorption, cracking and splitting. Standard grade CCA pressure treated wood, wood composite and recycled plastic mix, or virgin quality vinyl are also available.

RAILS

You may select our standard Gulfside Docks style railing which features a horizontal rail construction, or the optional vertical style baluster railing. Custom wood designs and plastic rails are quoted upon request.

BENCHES

Gulfside Docks offers two standard bench designs. The Pinellas County style bench features a closely spaced back and seat design supported by vertical front legs. The Pasco/Hernando style features open spaced construction on the seat back and bottom, and is supported by a diagonal brace. Benches can be modified upon request, or custom styles quoted, prior to construction.

OPTIONAL FENDER BOARDS AND CROSS BRACES

Fender boards and cross braces are built of rough cut 2.5% CCA saltwater retention lumber. Fender boards are nailed vertically to the frame from the bottom to 3-4 feet above the decking to use as boat bumpers. Cross braces may be added onto pilings in an "X" formation to provide extra stability.

ACCESSORIES

Accessories such as cleats, rub rail, swim ladders, fish tables, dock boxes, piling cones, rope, acrylic stain, etc. are available. If you have something special in mind, we'll be happy to source it out and provide a quote
